Welcome

About Me

Picture
Hello, I am Oscar Gil and I am currently in the process of obtaining a Master of Science and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling at National University. I consider myself a life-long learner as I am also in the process of completing two separate Associate Degrees at El Camino College in the fields of Anthropology and History. In regards to the remainder of my education, I obtained my Master's Degree at Cal State LA, my Bachelor's Degree at UCLA, and my Associate Degrees at El Camino College.

My primary educational interests correspond to academic and career counseling, and how factors such as policy, socio-emotional support affect a student throughout their academic transition from a secondary institution (high school) to a post-secondary institution (college, university, or trade school). This led me to do research on the role that familial socio-emotional support played on first-generation Latino students during their academic transition towards higher education. I do eventually plan on obtaining a doctorate in the field of education that would allow me to further explore this topic more in detail.

I am currently a member of AERA, the Golden Key International Honor Society, Phi Delta Kappa, Pi Lambda Delta, the Gates Millennium Scholars Association and an ambassador for the Gates Scholarship Association and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. Formally, I was my department's student-led organization's (Student Led-EDFN) co-chair and Vice-President.

Thank you for looking through my online academic CV (Work Experience is currently being updated), and if you have any questions, please feel free to send me a email if I seem perfect for your organization. Thank you for the consideration and please have a wonderful day.
